SWINDON Wildcats have re-signed netminder Chris Douglas.

Douglas, 30, is no stranger to Link Centre fans, having been a key member of the 2004/05 and 05/06 campaigns, picking up recognition as player of the season in 2004/05.

The London-born backstop spent two seasons with the neighbouring Bracknell Bees organisation before taking time away from the intense schedule of the English Premier League.

In his Gazette column earlier this week, Cats' general manager Steve Nell revealed the club were aiming to bring Douglas back in.

And having settled in the town, Douglas has been training regularly with the team throughout the season and has answered coach Ryan Aldridge's call as emergency cover while the long-term netminding situation is resolved at the club.

Previous netminder Geoff Woolhouse was released by the club at the start of the week following an incident in last Sunday's defeat at Slough Jets, when he headbutted former Swindon star Ryan Watt.

With the requisite registration paperwork completed, Douglas is scheduled to make his debut in tomorrow's 5.45pm fixture at the Link Centre with the Peterborough Phantoms.
