Age Concern Wiltshire has urged its supporters to redouble their efforts as its Big 60 Challenge fundraising campaign enters its last lap.
With just two months to go to the end of the campaign year, the charity has raised £32,000 towards its £60,000 target with no major fundraising projects in the pipeline.
While congratulating all concerned for the fundraising effort so far, Mike Weston, chairman of trustees of Age Concern Wiltshire, said that one last big push was needed.
Mr Weston said: “In the last few months activity in support of the appeal has really built and we are delighted with the amount raised so far.
“Our figures have been given a real boost by a significant donation from a charity fund in the USA as well as monies raised from our recent auction.
“However, we are just as pleased with the support that we have received from local groups and individuals, many of whom have taken up our Big 60 Challenge and raised everything from a few pence to hundreds of pounds through fairs, dances, teddy bear raffles and coffee mornings.
“Many older people find this time of year a real struggle. The funds raised will help the charity to be there for them if needed.”
The appeal, launched in March, will continue until Age Concern Wiltshire’s annual Pancake Races in Devizes Market Place on February 16.
