Mother and daughter Diana and Becky Deal cycled 130 miles to raise money for Age Concern’s Big 60 Appeal.
Mrs Deal and Becky, 16, an A level student, did the cycle ride last week during the school half term.
They set off from their home in Winsley and cycled around Salisbury Plain and on to Winchester where they joined the South Downs Way then cycled all the way to Brighton, where they met up with Mrs Deal’s eldest daughter Katie who is at university.
Mrs Deal, a sub-editor at the Wiltshire Gazette & Herald and Wiltshire Times, said: “The weather was great and the scenery was absolutely amazing. We cycled up to eight hours a day but we went slowly, I think we are the slowest cyclists ever!”
The challenge took them four days and they camped out for three nights and stayed in a B&B one night.
Mother and daughter are keen cyclists and Mrs Deal said: “It was great fun, we met some fantastic people who went out of their way to help us.”
Mrs Deal has so far raised £135 in sponsorship and hopes to reach £200.
She said: “My mother has just turned 90 and I think older people need a lot of help.”
Age Concern’s Big 60 Appeal is aiming to raise £60,000 during this year, its 60th anniversary.
