Volunteers at Doorway are organising a music extravaganza in Chippenham to raise awareness of the charity which helps homeless people in the town.

The one off event, ‘Dinner and Dance for Doorway’ will be held at the Rose and Crown pub on September 19 and will see a host of local bands performing at the recently renovated pub.

Volunteer Helen Taylor said: “The idea for the event was to get lots of different members of the community together to raise money for people who are also here in our community but are marginalised.”

Doorway project manager Lisa Lewis said: “We have never done anything like this before.

“It is all about reaching out to a different generation that may not know about the work of Doorway. Raising awareness is the main aim of this event, as well as celebrating our achievements this year.

“Raising money for the charity will be an added bonus for us.”

Bands including Hiproute, The Doorway Band, Energy Without The Sun and Bad Lizard will all perform in the outside area of the pub and the restaurant area will be cleared to create a dance floor.

Ms Lewis added: “We want to have one final dance on the Rose and Crown dance floor - this will be great for the pub, promoting it as a music venue.”

Tickets for the event cost £3.
