Fire investigators and building control officers from Wiltshire Council are now at the scene of a blaze which destroyed a derelict pub in Wootton Bassett today.
One fire crew from Stratton fire station in Swindon is also still in attendance.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said one crew from Stratton is still at the scene and will remain there for the rest of the day to ensure the area is safe.
She added: "Because it is such a large fire, we have one crew doing a watching brief at the scene in case any hot spots flare up again during the day.
"Building control officers have said the building is too unsafe to get inside at the moment as there is nothing holding the walls up.
"We have fire investigators currently going up in the aerial appliance to look at the site from above and we are waiting to hear what they can find out from an external inspection.
"At this stage, initial suspicions are that the fire was started deliberately."
The fire at the Beaufort Arms broke out just after 2am today.
