History fans will be given a rare opportunity to view never before seen areas of the Chippenham Museum and Heritage Centre next week.
The Grade II listed building, built as a home by clothier Samuel Fludyer in the mid 1700s, will be opened for tours on September 11 and 12.
Assistant curator Paul Connell said: “The building has seen several subsequent uses but still maintains its original character.
“The tours will also give the opportunity to view objects held by the museum which are rarely on display, as they will explore the areas of the building used as storage for its extensive reserve collection.”
The tours have been organised by the museum in conjunction with Chippenham Civic Society for Heritage Open Days – a national programme that celebrates England’s culture by offering free access to property usually closed to the public.
There will be three tours daily, at 10.15am, noon and 2pm.
Entrance is free but places are limited so booking is essential by calling the museum on (01249) 705020.
