The problem of finding a location for a skateboard park has been handed to the Area Board to solve by Devizes Town Council.
The council has trawled the town since it was forced to remove equipment in Hillworth Park seven years ago.
It received a petition from about 150 youngsters in April calling for a skateboard park to be provided.
Enthusiasts are forced to travel to other parks in places such as Bath, or to skateboard in their neighbourhood, which can lead to conflict with residents.
The petition was signed by a large number of people who live in neighbouring parishes and villages, so the town council believes that the new Devizes Area Board, set up by Wiltshire Council, would be better placed to discuss the issue.
The town council’s community and civic resources committee meeting on Tuesday agreed to write to the Area Board as well as neighbouring parish councils seeking their support.
Councillor Charles Winchcombe said: “This is a facility that is much needed and it would be of benefit to the whole area, not just Devizes.”
Town councillor Jane Burton, also a Wiltshire councillor, said it might not get on the agenda for the next board meeting on September 28.
However, councillor Margaret Taylor said the council should make it known to board manager Jonathan Gale that the matter was urgent and should be discussed at that meeting.
