More than 100 people took part in Devizes Carnival's confetti battle on Wednesday evening despite high winds and heavy rain.
People had already started to gather in the Market Place for the occasion, thought to be the last confetti battle in England, long before the 8pm start time.
The battle began with cannons of confetti being fired from flats above Gregg's the bakers and Pizza Express.
Dave Buxton, the carnival's artistic director, said: "People got into the spirit of the thing despite the rain chucking it down. Youngsters were picking up handfuls of damp confetti and throwing it like snowballs.
"I am delighted that the event remains as popular as it does. We will certainly keep putting it on."
Preparations are well under way for the carnival procession on Saturday.
Entries will start assembling on the Green from 4pm and judging starts at 5pm. The procession will set off around the town at 6pm.
It will go along Southbroom Road into Sidmouth Street, Maryport Street, New Park Street, Northgate Street, the Market Place, Long Street and back to the Green.
