Chart topping acts and local bands rocked Malmesbury’s Party in the Park music festival over the weekend.
Headliner Sandi Thom, who topped the album charts in 2006, Glastonbury performer Jon Allen and Bristol band The Goodness all entertained crowds at St Aldhelm’s Mead on Saturday.
Sunday saw ten local acts including Kaiche from Minety strutting their stuff.
The festival, part of the Malmesbury Carnival, concluded on Monday with a family fun day.
Carnival Chairman Andy Dawson was thrilled with the weekend performances.
He said: “Party in the Park has been absolutely fantastic.
“Sandi Thom and Jon Allen were great and The Goodness did an amazing set.
“On Sunday we had non stop music from 2pm till midnight from local bands.
“We finished with Itch, a brilliant party band, who rocked into the night.”
Communications manager for the festival, Paul Travers, said the weekend was so good he was just sad more people didn’t see it.
“The atmosphere of the whole event was wonderful, the organisers did a great job,” he said.
“The catering, the security, everything was handled really well.
“I just wish more people had been there to enjoy it.
“I don’t know the exact numbers yet but there was a huge field which wasn’t completely filled.
“People won’t know what they missed.”
Thom performed tracks from her 2006 chart topping album Smile…It Confuses People including her big hit I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker.
Mr Travers said: “Sandi is a genuinely good musician.
“And this was the first time I’d seen Jon Allen play.
“He is just gorgeous in every sense of the word.
“A lovely person and he has a great voice.”
Mr Travers, from Weston Super Mare, was also impressed with his first visit to Malmesbury.
He said: “What a beautiful town.
“I can’t believe it has a carnival that goes on for nearly two months.
“There is so much happening I expect the place must be hibernating for the rest of the year.”
