Marlborough resident Peter Noble found his car buried under a fallen tree after violent winds on Friday.
Police knocked at his door in Frees Avenue to tell him his car was under the 30ft tree.
He said: "A freak gust of wind on Friday snapped a chestnut tree. In falling it totally blocked the road, demolished the 30 mph signs on each side and damaged the roof and rear doors of a van parked close by.
"That van was able to drive away unaided but my car was enveloped, almost hidden beneath the heavy trunk and foliage.
"A dumper truck arrived and took the weight of the tree enabling me to drive out from underneath - the damage? A very small dent in the roof and not a single scratch."
