Further to the recent article published in the Gazette on Thursday August, 13, page 3 “Mum’s parking fight” it would be greatly appreciated if you could print the following as my campaign is now in full swing.
The issue of a Residents’ Parking Scheme, highlighted by a new batch of double yellows, has not been addressed for many years. Certainly since Val Compton had to drop the campaign in 2007 and despite the Town Council promising to take it forward, nothing has happened. Three of us, lead by Katie Drake-Burrows, have formed a group called CRAMP (Cars, Residents And Marlborough Parking), we’ve printed postcards for display, with instructions as to where to register your problem. We would like to think our Councilors will listen and assist us – as a solution is long overdue and simply cannot be ignored. We seek the opportunity, not the right, to park in our own town under a administered Residents’ Parking Scheme.
CRAMP have been in touch with the Chamber of Commerce as we realise residents are not the only ones with parking problems. If groups can work together, so much the better.
If you’re a Marlborough Resident with parking problems please register at www.marlboroughtowncouncil.gov.uk or write to Katie Drake-Burrows, 4 Barn Street, Marlborough. If you receive one of our postcards through your door please display it in your window and spread the word. Let’s have a bit of people power in action.
Katie Drake-Burrows, Barn Street, Marlborough.
