Corsham residents can find out more about the history of the town as part of national voluntary scheme, Heritage Open Days.
In conjunction with the heritage days Corsham Civic Society is offering a programme of events between September 10 and 13 to celebrate the town’s history, architecture and culture.
The open days will include a talk at the town hall by Nick McCamley, author of Secret Underground Cities on Friday, September 11, to outline how the stone quarries were developed.
The Tourist Information and Heritage Centre will also have an exhibition of Olga Lehmann’s work, displaying her murals, commissioned in 1943 by the Bristol Aeroplane Company to brighten up its underground factory canteen.
Events are free but tickets are required from Corsham TIHC or look up www.corsham-civic-society.co.uk.
