Visitors will get the opportunity to view the village of Imber from the top of a double decker Routemaster bus in a one-off service being laid on for Saturday September 5.
Situated in the middle of the Salisbury Plain artillery range, Imber was requisitioned by the Army in 1943 for training and has been a restricted area ever since.
These days access to the village is allowed for only a few weeks every year when the Ministry of Defence opens the roads for public access.
Bath Bus Company is taking advantage of the September 5 open day to run a 23A Routemaster bus service from Warminster railway station to Imber, with some journeys continuing to Tilshead to connect with the service 2 that runs between Devizes and Salisbury.
Buses leave Warminster at 9.48am, 11.48am, 1.58pm, 3.13pm and 4.28pm.
