Golfer Kevin Diston is two clubs short in his bag after thieves raided his garage in Calne.

And even though the police caught the culprits, the clubs have not been found.

A group of teenagers stole a specially-made driver and a putter from Mr Diston’s garage in Low Lane earlier this month.

Mr Diston, who lives with his wife and two children, said: “The people who took the items have actually thrown them out somewhere.

“Police took them back to where they had thrown the clubs but they had gone.

“Apparently it was just a bit of fun, but it is not fun for me.”

It is thought the clubs were dumped somewhere between Low Lane and Anchor Road as the youngsters were caught on CCTV in the town centre empty-handed.

The custom-made driver has a distinctive blue shaft and black and yellow handle.

“I could spot it a mile off,” said Mr Diston. “If I saw someone walking down the street with the driver I would know straight away that it was mine.

“I have now had to replace them so I am actually out of pocket – I am very cheesed off about that.

“I am hoping someone who picked them up, not realising they were stolen, will return them.

“They could have taken the other clubs which have no value but they took these – you cannot play golf without these two.”

The clubs were stolen at around after midnight, while Mr Ditson and his wife were at home.

“Because we were still up at the time we had not locked the door,” he said. “It was a warm evening and I was lying on the bed above the garage.

“I heard the door go up and because my wife was still up I thought she was putting something away.

“Then I heard kids talking quite loudly outside and opened the window to see what was going on.

“When we realised we were being burgled my wife ran out after them but I told her not to because she is only small – I then called the police.”
