A charity rock concert in Box is set to celebrate its biggest year yet with a live internet link for people who can’t make it to the event on Bank Holiday Monday.

Box Rocks at The Queen’s Head is celebrating its 16th year on Monday with nine rock bands playing from 2pm to 10pm in aid of the Forever Friends Appeal, Space to Grow campaign for a new neonatal intensive care unit at the Royal United Hospital in Bath.

Landlord Dean Creighton has a personal reason to support the charity.

He said: “My 18-month-old nephew Thomas will be at the event for his second year running after he was born premature last January and was cared for by NICU.

“He is fighting fit like any other child of his age and is doing really well.”

Staff from the appeal will be supporting the landlord and his team of staff on the day in a bid to raise more than last year’s impressive total of £2,335.

The new live internet link, which will be launched at the event, is expected to help raise even more money for the charity.

Mr Creighton, 44, said: “The new internet link on our website is the big thing for us this year.

“We tested it out last year but didn’t promote it and so this year people will be able to watch the bands playing live through our web page and can donate online as well.”

The bands that will be playing free of charge for the charity event are The Will Blake Band, Demoffs, Serration, Ulysses, Recode, Exclusion vs. the Rock Pirates, Funkinsteins and The Rocky Horrors.

Admission is £2 and all money raised through admission will go directly to the appeal. For more information log on to www.boxrocks.biz charity
