There is no end in sight to the continuing traffic problems in Marlborough with a gloomy outlook stretching into next year and beyond, town councillors have been warned.
Although the current gas excavations in St Martins and Barn Street necessitating a one way system in Herd Street and Kingsbury Street are due to end this week the council has been told that Pewsey Road will be closed for three months next summer while the bridge over the River Kennet is strengthened or replaced.
The town council has also been warned that major problems are just around the corner on the main Swindon A346 road at Bay Bridges on the edge of the town in due course when the bridge over the River Og has to be replaced, although no date for this work has been given.
