Preparations are well under way for the annual Feast of Food in Marlborough that not only showcases local produce but has also raised well over £70,000 for cancer research over the past six years.

The Marlborough branch of Cancer Research UK takes advantage of the school half-term holidays to stage the Feast of Food in the Norwood Hall dining room at Marlborough College.

Anne Deuchar organises the event, which is taking place on Saturday October 24 for the seventh successive year, and she said: “It raised more than £10,000 last year so over the six years it has been running I would say it has raised between £70-75,000.”

Together with other events that have become part of the town calendar the local branch of Cancer Research UK has raised more than £500,000 over the last decade.

On October 24 the college dining room will become a market place for the day with around 60 exhibitors selling everything from top quality locally produced food with organic meats, additive free pies and pastries, sausages and fish products and a range of wines.

There will be wine from A’Becketts vineyard at Littleton Panell near Devizes, Ceri’s Cheeses from Wootton Bassett together with locally produced meat and fish products, pie, cakes and puddings.
