Former students at the Marlborough senior schools are being asked to search out any items of memorabilia of their school days for an exhibition that will mark the end of the road for the present St John’s buildings.
Both sets of buildings, the Lower School in Choppingknife Lane that was the old Secondary Modern and the Upper School in Orchard Road that was the Grammar School, are due for demolition after the new £26million school opens in December.
An exhibition is planned to mark the end of the old school buildings and former students are being asked to dig out any memorabilia for inclusion in the display.
Kate Hunter, the St John’s development officer, said: “So many people have asked us if they can have one last look around the school buildings that we have decided to open up both school sites to all our ex-students on September 26, 10am to 5pm.
“We will also be exhibiting old photos, trophies and other memorabilia and there may well be opportunities for people to own a part of the old school.”
Anyone with items for the exhibition should contact Mrs Hunter on (01672) 519575. Reservations are being taken from those who want to attend class reunions on the day.
