Police in Chippenham are on the hunt for four youths who broke into two houses in the town before making off in a car they had stolen from one of the homes.
The teenagers, described as wearing dark clothes, broke into two homes in Cepen Park South between 1am and 2am on Monday and took car keys to a Saab before joyriding it for a short while.
They then abandoned the car and made off.
Sergeant Mark Gale of Chippenham Police said: "I urge everyone to make sure their property is secure, especially overnight.
"There has been a slight increase in burglaries recently, however we are really pleased our detection rate is nearly double our target.
"We need to know who committed these offences."
Anyone wanting security advice should contact crime reduction officer Dave Budd on 0845 408 7000, or if anyone has information on the burglaries they should contact Chippenham Police on the same number.
