The bodies of four more soldiers killed in Afghanistan will arrive back at RAF Lyneham today.

Hundreds will line the street in Wootton Bassett for a repatration service at 2pm.

All four were members of the 2nd Battalion The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers and were killed last weekend.

Sergeant Simon Valentine died after being caught in an explosion while on patrol last Saturday.

Lance Corporal James Fullarton, Fusilier Simon Annis and Fusilier Louis Carter were then killed by another explosion, while on patrol on Sunday near Sangin.

Sgt Valentine, known as Val to his friends had been in the army since 1997. Wife Gemma said: "Simon, above all else, was a truly loved father, son, husband and friend. To have known him was to have loved him."

Lance Cpl Fullarton had served two tours in Iraq and had also helped protect the Royal Family in London. He has been described by his parents Janice and Peter, and his fiancee Leanne, as an 'outstanding soldier.' They added: "He touched so many around him and has left a void in our lives that will never be forgotten."

Fusilier Annis had married his wife Caroline just a few weeks before being deployed to Helmand. She said: "He was a true hero who made all of us so very proud and he will always have a place in our hearts. We will love and miss him always."

Fusilier Carter, 18, was one of the youngest members of his battle group in Afghanistan. His Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Charlie Calder said: "He sacrificed his life attempting to save his Section Commander.

"This act of selfless commitment from one so young should be a shining example to the nation."
