A Wiltshire history student is celebrating after achieving a rare perfect score in the subject.
Lucy Preston, 18, managed 100 per cent in her history paper despite not "busting a gut" at revision time.
The talented teenager, who was deputy head girl at St Mary's in Calne, is going on to study her favourite subject at Cambridge.
Lucy, from Langley Burrell, near Chippenham, said: "I did work quite hard but then I do enjoy it more than my other subjects and it's the one I'm most interested in.
"I still found the exam a huge challenge. When you look at the paper you don't have time to worry, you just get started.
"I was still manically scribbling away at the end."
Lucy, who answered questions on Tudor England and the fall of the Soviet Union, added that she didn't feel A-levels are now too easy.
"I would say that, but then, I've only done it this year," she said.
