Visitors will be able to enter the world of trees at the new Laboratree tepee at Westonbirt Arboretum’s Festival Of The Tree.
Children and adults will be able to see bugs and bark under the microscope, meet scientists and view the Forestry Commission’s new film The World is Hot Enough.
Westonbirt’s Gail McKenzie said: “This outdoor science lab has hi-tech microscopes to get children really close to trees and to a wonderful miniature world.
“They can also get up close and personal with the insects that may become common as the climate changes.
“Also in the ‘lab’, the educational DVD will reveal how trees and woodlands can help fight climate change, and how forests might change in future.”
Visitors will be able to find out about trees and woodlands and their future in view of climate change at Gardeners’ Question Times and Meet The Scientist sessions, films, talks and walks.
The Festival of the Tree is open from 9am to 5pm from Monday for one week to August 31.
During the festival, admission to the whole arboretum is £8 for adults, £7 concessions and £3 for 18 year-olds and under. For the full programme of events, visit www.forestry.gov.uk/westonbirt.
