A judge has put off passing sentence on a teenage burglar after hearing two other youths are accused of taking part in the same offence.

Thomas Smith, of Wootton Bassett, pleaded guilty to carrying out the break in on the other side of town when he appeared before magistrates in Chippenham last month.

The 19-year-old was committed to Swindon crown court for sentencing but two other youths pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Colin Meeke, prosecuting, told Judge Douglas Field that they were due to be committed for trial by jury next month.

He said it was good sentencing practice for all three to be dealt with at the same time if at all possible.

The judge agreed and released Smith on bail until a date to be fixed in September so the case against the other two can catch up.

Smith, of Saffron Close, Wootton Bassett, pleaded guilty to one charge of burglary.

He admitted taking jewellery, DVDs, a DVD player, PSP games and four mobile phone chargers in the burglary on Everleigh Road in the town.
