Acting headteacher Barry Hickey is relishing his latest job but thinks it will be his last.
Mr Hickey, 62, has been at Seend Primary School since June and will be acting head during the autumn term until a new headteacher is appointed to start work in January.
This is Mr Hickey’s third acting headship since he retired three years ago from St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in Devizes where he was headteacher for 24 years.
Mr Hickey, who lives in Urchfont, was acting head at Avebury Primary School, which has since closed due to dwindling numbers followed by Semley Primary School near Shaftesbury.
Mr Hickey, who is in his 39th year as a teacher, said: “It’s very enjoyable and good fun to work at different schools. It’s a privilege to be asked to go into schools by the local authority as every school is different and has its own challenges.
“I always say where ever I am working will be my last school but I suspect this will be the last one.”
