Familes enjoyed a fun day on Sunday to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Bright Sparks Community Pre-School in Potterne.
More than 200 people attended the event on Ryeleaze playing field in the village.
The fun day was opened by Jenny Lake, one of the founding members of the pre-school and Anne Hosburn, the group’s current play leader.
The sun shone as youngsters enjoyed traditional fairground rides, a Punch and Judy show, a coconut shy, bouncy castle, face painting and making their own wands.
Young and old had a go at medieval martial arts such as using a broadsword and quarterstaff in workshops and yoga.
People flocked to see Peter Vaughan, chef and owner of The Bistro in Devizes, do cookery demonstrations of falafel and pork meatballs.
The Devizes Samba Band, Oi Sambistas!, also proved a hit when they performed their catchy tunes. Reena Sudra, chairwoman of the pre-school, said the event had raised more than £800, which will be used to spend on items for the group’s outdoor classroom.
The pre-school has a mobile building in the grounds of Five Lanes Primary School in Potterne.
Miss Sudra said: “The day was a celebration of the pre-school and everyone really enjoyed the day.
“The ethos of the pre-school is giving children the opportunity to flourish in a safe and caring environment.”
