Carnival looks like being the biggest and best for years in Malmesbury this weekend.
Andy Dawson, carnival committee chairman, said: “We are very excited about this year’s list of events with old favourites returning and new events added.”
New this year is the Caribbean Salsa Party on Saturday, an evening of Latin music and dancing, lessons and demonstrations.
Also new is the Country Bumpkins’ Big Day Out on Sunday, which consists of traditional events, including the skittles contest, Morris Dancing workshops and displays, folk music.
A barbecue will feature the first great carnival rabbit pie contest to be judged by Martin Burge, chef at Whatley Manor and holder of two Michelin stars.
The Malmesbury Belly Dancers are back for the fourth year running on Monday.
Events will culminate with the procession on Saturday, September 5.
Floats, marching bands and plenty of evening entertainment will bring the show to a close – and a big sum will have been raised for good causes.
“Last year we gave away nearly £15,000 to community projects which we’ve listed in our programme,” said Mr Dawson.
