A new health centre plan for Devizes will go on show at a town hall open day organised by NHS Wiltshire and three GP surgeries on October 1.
A planning application was due to be submitted this month under the original timetable, but this has been delayed while NHS Wiltshire work with the GPs to refine the architect’s plans.
Sarah MacLennan, communications manager at NHS Wiltshire, said: “The plans and a 3D model for the Devizes Primary Care Centre will be on display and staff will be available to talk about the facilities.
“Then the plans will go to NHS Wiltshire’s board meeting in November with the planning application going to Wiltshire Council in December or January.”
She said if the planning application is approved building work would start next March and the centre would open 12 months later.
The GPs from Lansdowne, Southbroom and St James’ surgeries would own the centre, while NHS Wiltshire would lease space for services such as outpatient clinics and baby clinics.
These services are currently provided at Devizes Hospital and the Family Health Centre in New Park Street and will remain in place until the centre opens, Ms MacLennan said.
The Primary Care Centre will be sited opposite the NHS Treatment Centre due to open in November.
Ms MacLennan said X-ray facilities at the treatment centre would be available for patients of the Primary Care Centre.
