Great Bedwyn author Jon Stock is hoping that the book he wrote on his daily commute to London will be the next big Hollywood box office blockbuster.
Mr Stock, 43, a father of three young children, edits the Weekend section of the Daily Telegraph and, to while away the hours on the train between Great Bedwyn and Paddington, he penned the spy thriller, Dead Spy Running, which was subsequently published by HarperCollins.
It is Mr Stock’s third book after Riot Act and The Cardomum Club but it is his first spy book and to his amazement he was contacted by Warner Brothers about selling them the film rights.
Mr Stock said: “I know there’s a lot can go wrong between selling the rights and the film being made but it is all looking very positive at the moment. The script is being written by Stephan Gaghan, who won the best screenplay Oscar for Traffic and directed the espionage blockbuster Syriana.
“McG, who is currently working on the latest Terminator film, is slated to direct Dead Spy Running.
Mr Stock lives with his wife Hilary and their children Felix, 11, Maya, ten, and seven-year-old Jago in the centre of Great Bedwyn.
He said: “All my books have an espionage theme. The spying sort of developed as it went along. HarperCollins offered me a three-book deal and Dead Spy Running is the first in that trilogy.”
