When did you last visit the Bear Hotel in Devizes?
I went in there today, August 5, at lunch time and the place was packed, the atmosphere lively and there was hardly a seat available.
The food is served in both the Lawrence Room which offers a counter service and a two course meal for the older generation can be purchased for as little as £5.50 whilst a comprehensive and reasonably priced meal can be ordered from a main menu and served in both bars.
The staff are not only very experienced, but are vastly knowledgeable in their ability to serve a diverse range of drinks to accommodate all tastes.
The present tenants are often seen talking to customers which only enhances the friendly, warm welcome afforded to all, which is reflected by the number of customers who come in daily to meet friends for a drink, a meal and foremost to enjoy the ambience in such historical surroundings.
The Bear is indeed an integral part of the community in Devizes. Why else would such a respected and successful local businessman want to become its new tenant?
I am sure your readers will agree that the local paper should be seen to support local business in the current climate rather than publishing malign and harsh speculation about its future.
Mrs B Elsbury, Regular and happy customer of the Bear Hotel.
