Snapdragons nursery in Chippenham was today forced to close but there are signs it may be able to re-open in the autuman as talks start with Wiltshire College bosses.
The nursery, which has been based in the grounds of the Chippenham campus in Cocklebury Road for the past 20 years, was axed from the site to make way for more teaching space for the college and nursery workers were told today was their final day.
However, it has now emerged that nursery boss Rosemary Collard and college principal Di Dale have entered into talks which could see the nursery moved from the existing portacabin to another on site.
Nursery worker Michelle Rowbotham said: "We are still technically going - everything is packed up and gone and the parents and kids have left but the college is finally talking to us.
"The head of the Local Education Authority has now backed our campaign and they, along with Rosemary, are talking to Di Dale.
"This is definitely a step in the right direction.
"Everything has been moved out but we are talking about the possibility of moving to another mobile but there is nothing concrete.
"This means we might be able to stay but we wont be ready in time for September but maybe later in the year.
"At least they are talking to each other now and not just a game of he said she said."
