Student Emma Franks from Malmesbury is in the running to win an international modelling contract – because she suits her specs.

Miss Franks, 18, of Christian Malford, has been selected from hundreds of hopefuls to win a spot in the regional finals to find the new face of Specsavers.

She left Malmesbury School this summer and is awaiting her A level results before going to university to do film studies.

If she wins the title of England’s Spectacle Wearer of the Year, she will take part in an international catwalk show where the winner will be chosen from a panel of judges including TV fashion star Gok Wan.

Miss Franks said: “I am so thrilled to be going to the regional final. When I entered online, I really didn’t think I would get through. It would be great to represent England at the final.

“I’ve been wearing my glasses since I was seven and I am very happy and confident in them.

“I saw this competition on the Internet on a random site and decided I might as well enter as I had nothing to lose.”

Miss Franks will join 11 hopefuls at the regional final held at Specsavers in Birmingham on August 18.

If she is eventually crowned the most glamorous specs wearer, she will represent England at a glitzy grand final at London’s Victoria & Albert Museum on October 27.

Prizes would include a 12-month modelling contract with a top London agency, a luxury holiday for two in St Lucia or Barbados, and hundreds of pounds worth of other goodies.
