Girls at Devizes and District Guides are busy making costumes to wear during the Devizes Carnival procession.
It will be the first time in several years that the Guides have taken part in the procession.
Pam Ridley, leader of 1st Devizes Brownies, said 50 Guides ranging in age from five to 18 were making costumes incorporating five different themes to mark the centenary of Guiding.
Mrs Ridley went on a costume making workshop earlier in the year, run by the Carnival which has enabled her to teach her Guides.
She said: “The girls are really excited about taking part in the procession.”
The procession takes place on Saturday September 5 leaving The Green at 6pm.
But there will also be excitement the weekend before when one of the headline acts at this year’s Womad festival will be performing at the Devizes International Street Festival on August 31.
The Colombian family band Colores de mi Tierra which opened Womad, at Charlton Park, near Malmesbury, has been booked to join the line-up of bands already playing.
Among the street theatre acts are Bicycle Ballet featuring dancers on bicycles, Trukitrek puppets from Barcelona and a fascinating paper hat maker who is flying in from France for the day. The day ends with a spectacular pyrotechnics show.
The first event during Carnival is Picnic in the Park at Hillworth Park on Sunday August
