OXFAM’S bookshop on Marlborough High Street will be part of a music industry first, when the Arctic Monkeys release their new single Crying Lightning, through the charity’s 700 shops on Monday.
The limited edition CD, which is the first single from new album Humbug, features a cover of the Nick Cave classic Red Right Hand as a B-side.
It is the first time Oxfam shops have sold a new single for 25 years.
The CD costs £2.99 and comes with a download code so fans can get a free MP3 version of the song.
Shop manager Lisa Bonomini said: “Music fans love to dig through our collection of donated music to find some hidden treasures.
“During the recent jazz festival we sold hundreds of pounds of rare and collectable jazz vinyl to people from all over the world.
“I’m sure our regular customers will be delighted to know they can pick up something as exciting and exclusive as this. Even better, every copy sold will help us raise money to fight poverty worldwide.”
