POLICE seized a car during an operation aimed at cracking down on anti-social behaviour amongst drivers in Chippenham.

The Neighbourhood Policing Team in conjunction with the Roads Policing Unit conducted the operation on Saturday night after worried members of the public raised concerns.

PC Arwen Lucena said: “We have listened to the concerns that the public have raised.

“We take these concerns seriously and will take positive action whenever possible in order to deal with them.

“The operation was successful in that nine separate offences were dealt with including the issuing of two prohibition notices and a vehicle being seized.

“We will continue with these operations until the matter is fully resolved.”

Concerns have also been raised regarding vehicles using car parks in the town, playing loud music and causing a nuisance to residents late at night.

Chippenham police are currently seeking the co-operation of car park owners to install and enforce the use of car park barriers.

A meeting is planned with local residents and the town council to manage access to the Bath Road car park which has become a meeting place for racers.
