Thousands of feet and paws will patter around Corsham Court estate on July 19 as part of a paw trek in aid of guide dogs.

Organisers are hoping crowds of walkers and their dogs will turn out to raise money for the national charity. Organiser Derek Stent said: “Paw Trek is expected to be attended by thousands and be one of the biggest charity events in the south west this summer. “Guide Dogs relies on voluntary donations to fund its services, so every sponsored paw-step will make a difference to the lives of blind and partially sighted people.”

The walk will be split into different lengths, so that it is suitable for everyone, from families with young children, to those wanting the challenge of a longer trek.

Other activities on the day will include a blindfolded walk with a guide dog, providing opportunities for people to experience life without sight and learn how these vital companions transform independence and confidence for people with visual impairments.

There will be plenty of dogs showing off their skills, from Newfoundland water rescue dogs, to performers in the dog agility group Paws for Thought.

People wanting to rest tired legs at the end of the walk can hitch a ride on Mr Chuffy’s Land Train, one of several attractions at the event. Pedigree dogs can be entered in the companion dog show, while other dogs can enter novelty classes.
