The Wiltshire police helicopter was called out to help ground units in a car pursuit on the A350 near Melksham on Friday evening.
Police were involved in an-hour long pursuit after an offender stole a dark red Kia and failed to stop on the A350 at Beanacre shortly after 9pm.
The car led the police on a chase through Bristol before the driver was arrested in Stroud at around 10pm.
The helicopter redirected ground units on a number of occasions when they lost sight of the vehicle.
