Swindon Town have today announced the appointment of Peter Shirtliff as the club's new Assistant Manager.
Shirtliff, 48, played with Town boss Danny Wilson at Sheffield Wednesday and had been assistant to Ronnie Moore at Tranmere for the past two seasons.
A former defender, Shirtliff played for Sheffield Wednesday, Charlton Athletic, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Barnsley After retiring from the game in 1997, he spent time as youth team coach at Barnsley and Leicester City. He then took up the role of Assistant Manager at Mansfield Town in 2005 - where he later became Manager.
He became Assistant Manager at Tranmere Rovers in the summer of 2007 and will link up with former teammate Danny Wilson at The County Ground ahead of the new 2009/10 season.
