Young women in Calne are being urged to keep their wits about them after police received two reports of a man exposing himself to teenagers within a week.

A man described as white, clean shaven, with blonde or light brown unruly hair, has exposed himself to two teenagers on separate occasions in the same part of Calne.

In the first incident, on June 2, the man pulled up to an 18-year-old in a silver five-door car in Sandy Ridge and asked for directions.

When she approached the car window she saw the lower half of his body was exposed.

On June 9 a 14-year-old was confronted with a man touching himself in the alleyway near Brewers Lane.

Both incidents happened at around 9pm, and when the girls were walking alone.

Police Community Support Officer Shelley Gray said: “Although the two incidents may not have been linked, they sound very similar.

“Because they happened within such a close area of each other we think they are linked.

“The second incident was very different to the first but the description of the man matches.

“It seems he is approaching young girls because although one victim was 18, she looked younger.

“We would like to urge all young women to be wary when they are on their own and to report anything like this to us as soon as possible.”
