Villagers who have doubled the size of their community store in All Cannings gathered outside to celebrate its opening last week.

Chairman Tim Moore said that volunteers have saved more than £6,000 with their labour over the last six months.

He also said the store had been extended within budget and without losing a day's trading. Village hall trustee Brian Ball emphasised the value to the village of a well run shop and his wife Shirley cut the ribbon to open the extension.

Many of those present then did some shopping to show their support of the enterprise.

The opening was followed by refreshments and the fourth AGM of the Store Association. Generous grants and loans had been received from Community First and Kennet District Council.

Secretary/treasurer John Mead reported that sales are increasing month on month.

Presentations were made to project manager, John Mead and his wife Belinda who was given a bouquet of flowers to thank her for her tolerance for having an absent husband for six months.
