A team of 30 fundraisers were inspired by an historic milestone to cycle 97 miles from London to Yatton Keynell for charity.

The group, made up of villagers ranging from 20 to 60 years old, managed to raise thousands for local and national charities including the Wiltshire Air Ambu-lance, Dorothy House hospice, Yatton Keynell Under-Fives Pre-School and Help For Heroes.

Sunday’s trek was organised after locals found inspiration from a milestone in the village which reads “97 miles to Hyde Park Corner”.

Co-organiser David Else said: “We were all overwhelmed with how well it went.

“We set off from Hyde Park Corner at 4am and about 20 of us had a lovely cycle through London.

“It was not a race and we all enjoyed the cycle – stopping off at cafes and pubs on the way.”
