Villagers were disappointed to see the filming of the two-part Christmas special of BBC’s Cranford come to a close in Lacock at the weekend.

Both extras and businesses are sad to see the film crew and cast leave the village aftera week of filming.

Extra and mum-of-three Sharon Davies is sorry that her time on set has come to an end and hopes it returns to the village with the stars including Dame Judi Dench as Miss Matty Jenkyns, Imelda Staunton, Francesca Annis and Jim Carter.

She said: “I had such a wonderful time on set as I enjoy watching period dramas and to be part of one is brilliant. I am missing it already and would jump at the chance to do it again.

“My sons took part in the filming on Monday and had a really good time. They went to school the next day and told everybody about it.

Chaperone Anita Morrin, 52, of Cepen Park North, Chippenham had the task of looking after 18-month-old twins Chloe and Rebecca who were playing the part of Tilly, daughter of Miss Mary Smith.

She said: “Both of the babies were really well behaved they were so placid. They were alternating being in a pram that was pushed by Judi Dench and she was so good with them.”
