Wiltshire based jockey Richard Hughes, featured recently in the Wilts Gazette, made a great start to Royal Ascot week riding three winners on Tuesday, the opening day of the meeting.

The Collingbourne jockey won the Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes on Paco Boy and followed up on Canford Cliffs, both for his father in law, trainer Richard Hannon.

Later in the afternoon he completed a treble when he rode Judgethermoment to victory in the Ascot Stakes for Newmarket trainer Jane Chapple- Hyam.

The Manton trained Delegator ran a cracking race to finish second to the Aidan O’Brien trained Mastercraftsman in the Group 1 St James Palace Stakes.

After finishing second in the 2,000 Guineas, the Brian Meehan trained colt found the ground all against him in Ireland on his last run and finished well beaten.

Meehan was delighted with the run and added : “ That was a hell of a run, he looked like he was in front 50 yards out , but the other horse just battled back.

We can now put Ireland and all his knockers behind him, they were wrong, we were right.”

Fridays feature race at the Royal Meeting is the Group 1 Coronation Stakes for three year old fillies run over a mile.

Former Manton trainer John Gosden could have the answer to the valuable prize with Rainbow View, who has been threatening to win a big race all season.

On the final day of the Royal Ascot meeting on Saturday yet another Group 1 takes centre stage the Golden Jubilee Stakes, a British Leg of The Global Sprint Challenge run over six furlongs.

A truly International event runners from several countries will go to post with £450,000 worth of prize money on offer.

A tricky competitive race to sort out but a tentative each way selection is the Sir Michael Stoute trained Kingsgate Native, the mount of Ryan Moore.

The meeting gets underway with the Listed Chesham Stakes for two year olds run over seven furlongs. Trainer Mark Johnston could well have runners in the race while the USA is represented by Honor In Peace .

Aidan O’Brien has Beethoven and Emperor Claudius entered and two year old specialist Richard Hannon Big Audio and Bun Oir, however the selection is the Pat Eddery trained Aerodynamic.

The Wokingham Stakes, a Heritage Handicap over six furlongs could well need a crystal ball to help find the winner as could the Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes run over a mile and a half.

The final race on the card The Queen Alexandra Stakes run over a marathon two mile five furlongs could turn out to be a battle between the John Dunlop trained Swingkeel and Amerigo, the mount of Philip Robinson for trainer Michael Jarvis.

On an action packed Saturday there are meetings scheduled for Newmarket where Strictly would look to be another winner for the Sir Michael Stoute stable.

Redcar stages a seven race card where Excellent Show could just live up to his name and North of the border the action at Ayr gets underway with a mile handicap that could go to Peking Prince.

Haydock and Lingfield provide the evening action with Hightime Heroine a likely winner on the all weather course.
