Devizes mum Sue Jordan has set up an organisation designed to help jobless people get back into work.

Mrs Jordan is in the best possible position to know how unemployed people feel as she was made redundant from her job with Haddon Training in Marlborough in February. She found out at first hand what it is like to be looking for work when you are over 50.

Vocation Quest, which is due to be launched on June 26 at the Devizes branch of Wiltshire College, is designed to cater for anyone who is looking for work, although those recently joining the labour market are being particularly targeted.

Mrs Jordan, a mother of two grown-up children, said: “Our main function is to signpost people to other agencies that could help them.”

Drop-in centres are being set up at branches of Wiltshire College, where not only advice but sympathy will be dispensed.

Mrs Jordan said: “I am particularly concerned about young people in the county. Because jobs for school and college leavers are so scarce now, we are in danger of developing a lost generation who will never get a job.”

Vocation Quest is a not-for-profit organisation and Mrs Jordan is subsidising it from her savings. It can be contacted on 07955 139808.
