Pilot Seb Cole has resurrected the popular RAF Lyneham 10k charity run after it fell by the wayside six years ago while he was posted elsewhere.

The run was organised by Flt Lt Cole for two years but since 2003 no-one came forward to organise the race, which takes place within the confines of the base.

Flt Lt Cole said: “I was based at RAF Lyneham as a loadmaster on the Hercules before I was commissioned as a pilot and returned to Lyneham earlier this year.

“I saw the station commander when I returned and he tasked me to resurrect the race. Of course, it is an honour, and I hope the event will prove to be the success that it was when it was last held in 2003.”

The race takes place on September 26 it has a number of different categories including veteran classes and one for teams of three.

Entry is by application only, with the closing date for applications to arrive at RAF Lyneham no later than September 18.

Entry is £9 for affiliated runners and £10 for unaffiliated entrants.

All proceeds will go to the RAF Benevolent Fund. Application should be sent to Flt Lt Cole, 2RAF Lyneham, Chippenham, Wiltshire, SN15 4PZ.
