Swindon Town boss Danny Wilson has admits is side can look forward to a ‘tough but exciting’ Carling Cup first round tie at MK Dons.
Town, who finished twelve places below MK Dons in the League One table last term, will travel to StadiumMK for an enticing Carling Cup clash which will take place in the week commencing 10th August 2009.
Wilson said: “It’s a tough draw, but what a good one! Our fans won’t have far to go and it’s a game that we can look forward to, especially after doing well there last season.
“It will be a good yard-stick for us because MK Dons did well last year and it will come at the beginning of a competitive League One season.”
The Town manager believes The Robins can go into the game with every chance of getting a result.
“The pressure is always on the home team, that’s for sure,” explained the boss.
“The expectation levels will be raised at MK Dons after what they did last year.
“We will give MK Dons respect when we get there and it should be a cracking game of football. Both sides like to play the game in the right way and it should be an exciting encounter.”
Wilson had a spell in charge of MK Dons from December 2004 through until the summer of 2006, although it is now a much-changed set-up.
“They have had a lot of changes since I was there. MK were playing back at the Hockey Stadium when I was in charge - now they have a fabulous stadium and the supporter-base is growing every season.
“MK Dons are moving forward in a positive direction but the Carling Cup tie is one we can look forward to.”
