Fire crews from Corsham were called out to Beechfield Road following a toaster fire at a residential home on Saturday morning.
Two appliances attended the fire at Hungerford House nursing home at 8.45am, where the electrical appliance had set alight in the kitchen.
One member of staff was treated for smoke inhalation after putting the blaze out with a fire blanket.
Manager Jane Ridgwell said: “The fire was put out immediately by a member of staff who acted quickly to prevent any further damage to the kitchen area or disruption to the home.
“Our care leader Jane Thorn was checked over by a paramedic afterwards for smoke inhalation because she had put the fire out.”
Firefighters used two breathing apparatus to check the kitchen area where the fire had been.
Corsham fire watch manager Mark Unwin said: “We would advise people not to try and put the fire out themselves no matter how small it is as it is risking their safety. They should what until we arrive to put it out.”
