A Devizes man has been remanded in custody after admitting being involved in dealing heroin and having cash made from crime.

Timothy Cooper, the half brother of Barry Cooper, who was stabbed to death in Devizes last year, faces a prison term after admitting possessing the class A drug with intent to supply on Tuesday June 17 last year.

The 26-year-old also pleaded guilty to possessing criminal property on three occasions in the weeks following his arrest.

He had £420 on Wednesday June 18, £730 on Wednesday July 2 and £400 on Wednesday July 30 last year which was all or part of the proceeds of criminal conduct.

Cooper, of Forty Acre Road, Devizes, had been due to attend a hearing at Swindon crown court last month but refused to leave his prison cell.

But when he attended he admitted possession of heroin with intent to supply, three counts of possessing criminal property and simple possession of heroin on Thursday December 18 last year.

Simon Clifford, defending, asked for his client to be sentenced without a report from the probation service as he accepted he faced a jail term.

But Judge Mark Horton ruled that he and another man, Matthew Pearce, should be sentenced together as their cases were linked.

He said the two men were part of the same drug dealing enterprise.

Cooper was remanded in custody so a report can be compiled and he will be sentence on Friday July 3.

Pearce, 24, of Victoria Road, Devizes, pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply or heroin between Monday June 16 and Friday December 19 last year.

He is on conditional bail until the same date when he too will face sentence.
