Emergency doctors from all over Wiltshire are now good to go after undertaking a special response driving course at police headquarters in Devizes.
Chief Constable Brian Moore last week presented certificates to Dr Jonathan Glover of Marlborough, Dr Adam Brownhill of Chippenham, Dr Adam Fox and Dr James Dunn of Swindon at the Air Support Unit base in Devizes.
All the medics had undergone the special course because, as members of South Wilts Intervention for Trauma (SWIFT), they have to switch on their blue lights and drive at speed to emergency incidents.
Sean Hegarty of the SWIFT support staff said: “The course was brilliant and one of the great advantages of doing it through the police was that they got to know our staff.
“There have been occasions when they have been stopped by police and asked why they are driving with a blue light flashing.”
