Marlborough indie rocker Pete Doherty is back in police custody on suspicion of drink driving and possession of drugs.

The Babyshambles frontman was pulled over for driving erratically after he left a gig in Gloucester.

Police said he failed to stop when ordered, and led officers on a chase through the city.

Doherty, 30, was finally pulled over and was arrested on suspicion of drink driving, possession of drugs, and failing to stop.

A spokesman for Gloucestershire police said the singer remains in custody.

Doherty is due to be questioned later today.

The arrest came just minutes after the singer left a concert at the city's Guildhall in the early hours of this morning.

A police spokesman said: "At approximately 12.30am officers on patrol in Eastgate Street saw a car being driven erratically, it continued down Barton Street and was stopped in Derby Road.

"A 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drink driving, possession of drugs and failure to stop for police, he remains in custody at this time."

Doherty was jailed last year for breaching a probation order following a number of arrests relating to his drug use.

Mr Doherty's home in Marlborough was also raided yesterday. Police swooped on the singer's detached house at around midday.

Wiltshire police refused to reveal what its officers were searching for, or if anything was found.

But a spokesman for Gloucestershire Police said: "We did ask Wiltshire Police to search an address in the Marlborough area in connection with a drugs arrest which took place in Gloucestershire."
