I would just like to say thank you on behalf of the Devizes & District Contact a family membership and committee for the ongoing support and kindness showed to our charity for fund raising events and moral support over the last year.

It is especially poignant during the economic climate the country is in to make a special thanks to you all.

Not all our members are able to speak out and say thanks but this message especially comes from them. As it is also Carers Week, what better time than to say thanks from all us mums and dads who appreciate everyone’s time and energy.

Our most recent venture was a very successful Dickies and Diamonds spring ball held at the Devizes Corn Exchange, we managed to raise over a thousand pounds towards replacing one of our minibuses, which leaks.

Our main fundraisers are the Majorwrecks, they tour the southwest on various different locations, fetes, carnivals and fun days, and without them and your generosity, we would not be able to subsidise our families on supported day out trips or social events that provide a stimulating and safe environment for us all to let our hair down, young or old, disabled or not.

We plan this coming year to try to set up a social club for young adults with disabilities as well as maintain our youth club and music zone groups. A new web site is in the making, so news will be easier to find.

We are always looking for new members as our existence is for many reasons, for example, to have inclusiveness with our friends and family in our quest to care for a family member or friend with a disability, the whole family is included in our organisations activities, so why not find out more?

A big thanks for the dedication of our volunteers and friends, and of course, the Majorwrecks.

Special thanks as well to our sponsors of the ball, D.S. Smith, TH White, Wadworth, The Westbrook Inn, The Green Dragon Market Lavington, The Taste of Bengal, Devizes, The Royal Oak Easterton, The Crown, Bishops Cannings, The Oliver Cromwell, Bromham, The Churchill, West Lavington, The Barge Inn Seend, Swindon Town FC, and thanks also to The Corn Exchange team, Annies Catering, The Fabulous Dough Boys, and Andy Saunders.

Colin Rossiter, Chairman, Devizes & District Contact a Family, Nursteed Road, Devizes.
